It is a an example of additive synthesis, with a simple underlying model:
- The frequencies of the inharmonic partials are derived from the equation of bending waves in a beam with both ends free.
- The weights of the partials are computed by inverting the modeshape base and multiplying it by an initial unit velocity impact at the middle of the beam.
- Dampening curves are somewhat arbitrary, but we know that partials are amortized quicker than the fundamental due to the rigging points of the beam.
